Hoodoo, Rootwork, Conjure

Hot Foot powder is used in African American hoodoo folk magic to drive unwanted people away. It is a mixture of herbs and minerals, virtually always including cayenne pepper, and usually other ingredients such as sulfur, black pepper, graveyard dirt, bluestone, gunpowder or salt. It is also known as Get Away or Drive Away, and shares certain common uses with the Mexican sal negro or “black salt.” It also shows some overlapping uses with Goofer Dust, which also is known to create restlessness and drive people away.

Harry M. Hyatt collected several recipes and spells for Hot Foot powder. Some modes of deploying Hot Foot collected by him include secreting a small amount into the victim’s shoes or clothing, mixing it with a victim’s foottrack, or placing a paper with the victim’s name into a bottle with Hot Foot powder and disposing of it in a river.  — from Wikipedia, “Hot Foot Powder.”

Hot Foot Powder has quite a strong effect and is used in foot track magic to get rid of someone, drive them out of town, keep certain people away from you, etc. You can use it in various ways although if you do decide to put this on a charcoal block, please stand back as it could flare up with a big flame at times. It contains saltpeter, but not as much as would be in a self igniting incense, but some of it could catch alight. It could also leave a bad smell in your room if you decide to burn it in your house and should not be inhaled as it contains sulphur, so rather burn it outside if this is your intention. The best place to burn it is in the person’s yard, and then quickly leave the area, but to set it up and let it burn in another person’s yard, could be a little bit difficult. For this I would suggest getting the self igniting incense products.

It can be used with hot foot oil on a candle if you prefer, or any other Crossing style oil, just roll the candle in the powder after dressing it with the oil (and make sure you get rid of the remains in the proper manner as quickly as possible, you do not want to staying in your house), but the most common way to use it is to sprinkle it across the path of the person you wish to banish from your life. As they step on or over it, the intention is that they become “poisoned through the feet”.

Another way to use hot foot powder in foot track magic is to take up some dirt from the person’s foot track (where they have stepped), place it in a mojo with the powder and some other items of relevance, and then dispose of it in a natural body of running water which is moving away from your home and out of town.  --- http://redmojo.co.za/index.php?page=shop.product_details&product_id=1&flypage=flypage.tpl&pop=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=4
